Who we are
We, the Strathcona Firefighters Pipes and Drums, are a group of Firefighters and Fire Department employees dedicated to upholding the proud and long standing tradition of the Pipes and Drums within the Fire Service. We strongly believe in the promotion of arts and culture within the Fire service and the community, and we will give back to our community by representing the members of SCES, IAFF Local 2461 and the residents of Strathcona County as we perform both locally and abroad. We met our goal of being performance ready within two years when we performed at our Memorial March in September 2019, just nine months after beginning lessons. We continue to learn and progress by participating in formal weekly lessons and daily self study, with the opportunity to pursue individual lessons on their own. The Pipes and Drums Band will attend and perform at several events such as memorials, Line of Duty Death Services, Charities, Fundraisers, Parades, Convocations, Remembrance Day and other approved community events upon request.
